Rio Botanical Garden Photoshoot (Jardim Botânico)

The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden was founded in 1808 and is one of the calmest places in the city. Inside you find the famous avenue of royal palms and many other corners that are much quieter than the beaches.

For a photoshoot it offers a lot of variety: stone steps with an ivy-covered arch, a pond with lily pads, a pergola with white columns and a fountain with clipped hedges. All of them are green, soft and very different from the beach photos most visitors expect.

Best time of day

Morning light under the trees is soft and the garden is quieter. Check the current opening hours and entry rules before your date, because they can change.

What to wear

Light, flowing dresses and strong colors stand out against the greens. A yellow, white, red or pink outfit works especially well. Comfortable shoes help, since we walk on paths and stone steps.

Do you need a permit to photograph in the garden?

Rules for photography at parks and gardens can change, so I confirm the current ones before your session.

Can we combine the Botanical Garden with the beach?

Yes. The garden is close to Ipanema, so a session with both is a good fit for the Super or Experience pack.
