Copacabana Beach Photoshoot in Rio de Janeiro

Copacabana is the most famous beach in Rio, and it works for photos in a different way from Ipanema. The black and white wave-pattern sidewalk, the palm trees, the avenue and the long curve of sand give you city and beach in the same frame.

It is a good place for groups and for energetic sessions: running into the waves, jumping, dancing on the sidewalk and posing with the avenue behind. At night, with the lights on, it feels completely different.

Why shoot in Copacabana

  • The famous wave-pattern sidewalk is a background that says Rio at once.
  • City and beach together, with palm trees and mountains in the distance.
  • Works for groups, for bold outfits and for night sessions in a lit part of the beach.

Best time of day

Early morning has fewer people and soft light. For a night session we choose the spot and the time together, in a safe and lit part of the beach. In winter the sun sets around 5:20 pm and in summer around 6:45 pm (approximate times, check your date).

What to wear

Bold colors, sequins and white outfits all work here. White glows against the dark sea at night, and sequins catch the light even on a cloudy day. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to get into the water.

Is Copacabana safe for a photoshoot?

I choose the spot and the time together with you and work in busy, well-lit areas. For night sessions we plan the time and place in advance.

Can we combine Copacabana with another location?

Yes. The Super and Experience packs include two and three locations. Copacabana works well with Santa Teresa and the Selarón Steps.
