Two Women's Photoshoot at Parque Lage, Rio: Stone Gazebo, Ruins and the Mansion

Parque Lage is one of the most photogenic places in Rio, and it is completely different from the beach. In this session two women in white outfits walked through the forest paths, the old stone structures and the garden in front of the mansion, with the mountain rising behind.
White works very well here: it stays clean against the deep green and the old stone.
The photos in this gallery are from my session with Nautica.
The stone path in the forest
We started on a cobbled path with old stone railings, surrounded by thick vegetation. Walking together toward the camera and laughing between poses gave the most natural photos.
The carved stone gazebo
One of the most special corners of the park is a gazebo made to look like carved tree trunks. Framed by the arch, with the light coming through the trees, it works for portraits of one person and for two together.
Greenery, steps and an arched ruin
Next we used the big leaves for back-to-back portraits, a staircase in the forest for sitting poses and a ruined stone arch with a bridge in front. The textures of moss and old walls make the white outfits stand out.
The bridge and the fallen log
On the old bridge we sat on the balustrade and looked back toward the camera. A little further, a fallen log over a stream gave a more relaxed, playful set of photos.
The mansion and the mountain
To finish, we went to the garden in front of the mansion. With the mountain behind and the soft light, the final photos have a classic, almost postcard feel.
Tips for a similar photoshoot
- Check the park's opening hours, entry rules and photography rules before your date, because they can change. I help you confirm them.
- White and light colors look great against the green. Avoid very busy prints.
- Go early in the morning, when there are fewer visitors and the light is soft.
- Wear comfortable shoes. The paths are cobbled and some have steps.
