Sequin Outfits Group Photoshoot at Copacabana, Rio: Wave Sidewalk and Palm Trees

Sequins, fringe and boots made this group session at Copacabana feel like a party. Four people in red, silver and gold outfits took over the famous wave-pattern sidewalk, the sand under the palm trees and a stretch of the avenue, under a soft gray sky.

Sequins catch light even on a cloudy day, so the photos stay bright and full of color.

The wave sidewalk and the sand

The black and white wave pattern of the Copacabana sidewalk is a background that says Rio at once. We started there with individual portraits: a red fringe romper with a hat and red sunglasses, then a silver sequin set against a palm tree on the sand.

Under the palm trees

Palm trees give height and shape to the frame. Leaning on the trunk, jumping and waving with the whole group made the most playful photos, and the gold sequin dress shone on the promenade.

Group photos on the avenue

Next we walked along the avenue, holding hands and jumping all together, with the white hotel building and the city behind. A close shot of hands with colorful bracelets is one of my favorite details of the session.

Portraits in the middle of the street

To finish, we did individual portraits on the median of the avenue, with the mountains behind. Red sunglasses, a spin, a hat in the air and big smiles gave each person a strong set of photos.

Tips for a similar photoshoot

  • Sequins, fringe and metallic outfits look great even on a cloudy day. Bring accessories like hats and sunglasses.
  • With a group, outfits in the same color family but different pieces look good together.
  • Comfortable boots or sneakers help for walking on the sidewalk and the sand.
  • Early morning is the best time for fewer people at Copacabana.
